Perfecta duurzaamheid

1. Steel is quite appropriate for a circular economy.

Steel is not only needed to fulfil society’s needs. It will continue to be at the heart of climate action and policies in delivering a sustainable future global world economy (e.g. to produce windmills). The durability and resilience of steel, make it not only a material that can meet future technological challenges, but one that can be reused to reduce C02 emissions.

This material is particularly adequate in a circular economy as steel made product can be reused and recycled. Steel is the most recycled material in the world. Thanks to its magnetic properties, and high recycling percentage, steel makes it possible for steel made products at the end of their life cycle, to be reclaimed and used all over again.

Our suppliers target to deliver a high quality, durable and resistant steel, yet while using less raw materials. They have constantly been looking for new production processes that do target to be CO2 neutral (among others by means of using hydrogen). Their challenge : achieve a C02 neutral supply and value chain for the future.

2. Waste wood

For decades we have been re-using all waste wood to heat our business premises.

3. Solar energy

In 2009 and 2011 we covered our roofs with solar panels. Since then, solar energy has accounted for around 25% of our energy requirements.

  • Surface: 1,582 m2
  • Total installed capacity : 188.83 kWp
  • Production kWh/year: 170,000 kWh/year

4. Gas-fired oven

In late 2013 a new gas-fired oven was installed. Swapping fuel oil for gas reduces the amount of fuel needed and is good for CO2 emissions.

5. Insulated roofs

All roofs were superinsulated to make use of heating in the business premises more energy efficient.

6. Re-lighting

Re-lighting with smart controls guarantees efficient use of electricity.
